Cigarette prices up in smoke!
France has long had some of the cheapest cigarettes in Europe but is now, like the UK, trying to persuade people to quit the habit.
Gone are the massive 50-60% savings that smokers manage to enjoy for so long. In 2004 there have been 3 prices rises and there will be a fourth in January 2005. This means that the prices in France will have doubled in just one year!
You can however still enjoy savings of around 25% as the table below shows:

Please note: The only place you will be able to buy cigarettes and tobacco in France is at shops called a ‘Tabac’. These can sometimes be a newsagent or attached to a coffee bar. You can also buy them at petrol stations. You wll NOT be able to buy them at supermarkets and hypermarkets.
